Renowned for the elegant Modernist houses he designed in Hawai‘i, Vladimir Ossipoff set about his purest architectural experiment when, in the 1950s, he constructed a mountain cabin on the island of O’ahu. High on a ridge in the Wai‘anae mountains, Ossipoff Cabin was his personal retreat. Every detail expresses his design philosophy and understanding of the mountain microclimate. Restored in 2020, the cabin continues to exemplify the indoor-outdoor, Japanese-inspired style that Ossipoff embraced in future projects. Alongside is its smaller sister, Goodsill Cottage, which Ossipoff built in 1960. The images were shot on my iPhone.
